Seen Doc

By noon time, the wound got worse, and it started to swell.......
Shit man....i began to worry that the wound might have got infected. and my guess was correct......i've gotten an infection.

I went to see Doc Quek, my family doc since 1995, whenever i'm really sick, i'll surely go to him.

Doc: the wound is infected.

me: really ar?? but i haven gotten a fever leh....

Doc: u will, if u were to delay the treatment for 1 more day. also, neva use 青草油 in such abrasion cases. it is the main course of your infection....

then he began to spray alot halogen-aldehyde solution (I asked him wat it was) in an attempt to clean my wound and to wash away the 青草油。

Doc: u noe, the best way to treat cases like yours, is to SCRUB!!!!
and he began to rub my wound even harder!!!!

Me:...................clinging harder to my jacket as he applied more strength.......

and i've spent $40+++ for the medication.......heartache sia......

Cut/ Burnt

It's almost 6am in the morning, but i'm still wide awake......Not because I have nothing better to do. I wanted very much to sleep. However, I was woken up by the intense pain on my leg.......and as a result, i couldn't sleep.

During softball training earlier on in school, apparently my left leg was quite badly burnt due to abrasion when i attempted to slide/dive to catch a fly ball. I caught it. So what??? i regretted my decision somehow......and i am extremely unlucky to slide on a sandy patch which causes the abrasion.....as usual, there wasn't much pain during the training itself. The effects will always set in after I've totally cooled down from the training.....after i went home.

The wound got pus-sy(pus started to accumulate) and it juz did not dry up. In the end i decided to make a painful decision to apply 青草油 on the wound. This medicine is well known to be a good disinfectant for cuts, but it also brings u unimaginable pain for the few minutes u first apply it. It took me a total of approximately 1 hour before i finished applying the ointment over the whole wound....because after i applied abit, i need to take a 'rest' for the pain to subside 1st before i continue to apply the ointment on another portion of the wound.

My painful experience did not end there. Few hours later, when i decided to go and bathe after supper, the 2nd round of intense pain sets in.....and i was totally "high" from the pain...lol

Somehow the pain did not manage to subside totally and the wound still did not dry up completely, and it was so painful dat i couldn't sleep...dats why I'm awake now to blog abt it.....I've just applied another layer of 青草油, going thru another round of 'pain treatment', took a pain killer, and hopefully i can get to sleep soon....cos i need to teach later....lack of sleep will make me a very bad tempered person...........

from far

close up..
I've decided if by evening time today, things still dun get better, i will have to go and see a doc, to make sure that the wound isn't infected in any way.

So much for ..........

Today's supposed to be the start of the 2nd half of the semester...but i can't even feel that there was a break from the 1st half over the past few days. Went to the toilet b4 meeting ML and ZJ for dinner, to my horror, i saw a doctorate to be entering the toilet--->urinate--->walk out of the toilet...sounds normal, but look out for the missing procedures........

yes. he did not wash his hands......wat strucks me even more was that after he urinated, he still VERY DASHINGLY held his files/ books (not sure whether he was using the hand which he used to support his d***), worse still, he oso din bother to flush.......

so much for more than 10 years of education to at least have some toilet manners. actually he wasn't the 1st person in the WCU whom i noticed to not to flush and wash his hands...it's not that i like to look out for such things, it's because i do make a conscious effort to stick to these toilet SOP whenever i use the toilet, so when people deviates, i notices.

actually i do see worse cases before. when i was still in the army, there was this maniac who simply loves to shit on the hand washing basin, shower cubicle, and even the corridor!!! there was once i remembered so clearly that MJ was washing his face at the hand washing basin, of course not wearing his glasses. after he finished washing his face, he was horrified to see small piles of shit on the basin he was using.......it was also a common sight to see shit piles in the shower cubicle, and shit paths/ traces in the toilet and along the corridor........and we all knew who the culprit was.......so much for so many years of education................these people haf no toilet manners at all...................

P.S. Now is only Feb, why am i already camping myself at YIH????????????

卡拉永远OK

Had a great karaoke experience wif Klin on fri nite at Cuppage. It has been long ever since i last sang at the main hall. fortunately, no singers that day was tone deaf, and surprisingly, some pple sang quite well dat day. but was 疲劳轰炸 by 杨丞琳's 《暧昧》。 dunno y many pple like to sing her song.....initially wanted to sing Jay Chow's 《枫》..cos i've yet to sing it at ktv, though i knew dat song is very hard to sing, but so unlucky that some Ah lians decided to sing dat song juz right b4 me, so in the end, i did not sing it cos i do not wanna 'repeat' the song.....noticed this 'single' lady at the ktv (in green). she started singing alone at the main hall at ard 9pm. for about 2 hr+, she was alone without any companion.....honestly, i would not choose to go ktv alone....i would rather sing alone at home, rather than going to a ktv...:s....so initially, actually quite 'pity' her...for being such a lonely single having to go ktv alone....but juz b4 i left, his bf came..apparently she waited for 2hr+ for her bf!
the WCU has decided to raise its membership fees by another 10% from the next semester onwards i tink....at today's softball trainings, my team mates (esp ShengW and Lio) were quite surprised that i did not complain abt the issue and stage an uproar.....cos most of them feel that i'm the most vocal person in the team in complaining abt the WCU. but i didn't reali complain lar.....cos it doesn't reali concern me cos i'll be graduating soon!!! so gd luck to all my juniors.....who will have to pay more money to feed ur dear whoevers, build new buildings to replace those buildings used only for less than 5 years, and to maintain the aircon on whoever corridors even on sundays, and for them to rent the world's most high class servers which will have a high tendency to jam during certain days due to the irrational behavior of students all attempting to log into watever server at the same time :s

Thailand

Happen to discuss wif BB today about my past experiences in Thailand. I've been to Thailand. The 1st time i went to Thailand was in 1998, to Bangkok, 2nd time was in 2002, to Kanchanaburi. 3rd time was in 2005/2006 to Chiang Mai.

I would say both the 2nd and 3rd times were memorable in different ways. Cos i was sent to Thailand for 'enemy attachment' wif my NS company. It was memorable cos:

  1. I took C130 for the 1st time in my life. It's a super noisy, slow and uncomfortable army plane, which took 4 hrs to reach Thailand!
  2. Stayed at Sai Yuk camp. Everyday, we got to bathe in 'uncovered shower rooms'. In which there were no shower cubicles at all, we all bathe from a 'central pool' of water. So everyday all guys will get to 'parade' themselves each time they shower......
  3. My bunk was 夕照, which means that my bed will get to face the afternoon sun everyday. and somemore southern thailand is a super warm place. the bunk which i stayed in with the whole of my company of about 30 people, will get super warm once the sun rises from 9am onwards. I was super amazed to find my bed not only warm, but hot! even at 9pm at nite!!! one can imagine the degree of heat there......
  4. Frightening experience with Jenny......真是往事不堪回首........he's the coconut seller (yes, his name is called Jenny) whom i bought coconuts from everyday when i was there...cos cannot tahan the heat sia.... On the last night of stay at the camp, when i went to his stall again to buy coconuts to quench my body's heat. He suddenly spoke to me in his broken English in a very shy and (disgusting) manner.......saying that he wanna take a photo wif me.......i refused. Apparently, one of my buddy, mj was wif me at that time...we were like..extremely shocked.....worse still, the Jenny appeared to be like 羞答答 (shy like a gal)(pukez)....and all my frenz mocked at me the whole nite and the nx day morning after mj went back to 'broadcast' the issue....worst still, nx day morning, Jenny continued to be...羞答答..and apparently he went to tell all his frenz at the camp that...................and I began to feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated and all his frenz seemed to look at me in a abnormal manner........so i din buy coconut from him that day, and apparently i got to hide myself to prevent getting spotted by him until i board the bus to leave the camp.........

when we were hungry, even 'maggie' mee is tasty!

JJC Alumni vs NUS on 11th Feb 2006!!!

I would say i've truly enjoyed the game. The JJC Alumni Team is cool rite (of course NUS Team is cool too!)??? Age of the players range from 1996 to 2004 batch. I belong to the 1999 batch, who graduated from JJC in 1999. Each batch was differentiated with the jerseys of their respective years. The oldest guy is obviously the person wif the most faded jersey......Even though the JJC Alumni lost to NUS 7-8, but I am still happy. Not to mention that we unexpectedly lost to NUS only by 1 run! considering a team of majority rusty players. More importantly is the time we got together to play softball as a team, and keeping in touch as friends. I sincerely hope there will be someone to continue my role as the 'shit job' man who is always the most thick skinned to send invitational smses to jio people for games, but half of the time getting rejected or got played out at the last minute. Graduating lor...possibly retiring from softball oso lor........

Happy Early Valentine/ Friendship Day

Going to be very busy over the coming week, so i decided to post this friendship Day wishes to my fellow classmates presently. Having been together for almost 4 years, in a few more months, we will all be pursuing our dreams in different paths. Mk did suggest whether i wanna chip in a share to buy "roses" for the 两粒叶子楣 of my class....... i said no, cos i haf prepared a gift for all in a more special way....a song of my own. But i reali haf no time to record this song into a tangible piece of music. So i'll just be posting its lyrics for the moment.

I attempted to summarize our lives as undergraduates over the 1st 3 years of studies. the 4th yr was omitted cos we rarely take same modules due to each of our specializations. If u belong to my class NUS/ChE 2002/2003 CN4, perhaps u will be interested to guess which professors/ tutors i've mentioned in the song.......

Title: i'll be there for you----By Me

Because i will be there for you

Because i will be there for you

亲爱的朋友 我的歌你可听到否

我们都拥有回忆那么多

我要求不多 只希望你会记得我

Remember I'll be there for you forever

Remember I'll be there for you for-ever

IHG Softball

Today went to school for inter hall games (softball) in the afternoon. Initially was quite worried that heavy rain would spoil the day, but luckily, heaven was still pretty nice, only to deliver light showers. I din get to play, since i din stay in hostels. So, i agreed to help to umpire the semis and final. Felt quite sad that we did not even manage to get another umpire from our own grp of IVP non IHG players and that we need to turn to outsiders for help.

This was the 1st time i umpire slow pitch softball games, so before that i did dig out my ISF rulebook to refresh my memory on the rules of the game, more importantly hoping that by knowing the rules better, i can prevent disputes among the rival teams better. But in the end, wat can go wrong will alwiz go wrong. Disputes still occured over some issues that were not fully tied down before the games.

So, i do learn some valuable lessons from today's experiences.
  • importance of adaquate preparation work in everything we do
  • importance of communication, especially on debatable rules when arguments cropped up.
  • integrity and honesty, when players can lie on the field in an attempt to protect their team interest
  • it's hard to be a fair judge too. initially i was very lenient with the pitchers and i usually closed 1 eye even if they had made illegal pitches, but as i went further, i do realised that i need to enforce the regulation.

More on Sentosa

Fresh from the oven of yesterday's sentosa pics!

See how agonized some of us were when Gab pressed his gigantic body on us. How "high" Kei(bottom) was

What do u tink zx (extreme right) is doing??

Honest Declaration

I reali haf to admit that i haf no talents for the 2 most popular sports in school. They are:

1) Basketball

2) Soccer

Apparently, I am so lousy in these 2 sports that i am pretty injury prone when playing these 2 sports. I played softball for almost 13 years and I rarely got sprains or other serious injuries (I hope so in the future too).

1) I remembered this date so clearly: 14th Feb 2001. Not because it was Valentine's Day and i had a very memorable day with someone i love. It was the day when I had a VIRGIN SPRAIN on my right ankle.

I was still in the army then. Many of my fellow company mates were out for Combat Survival Training. Yes, this was the course which a Sniper from my unit was dunked and later died because of pneumonia in 2003. I was excused for that particular one (which i made up for it in Aug 2001) because of "fate". I unintentionally failed the FFI (medical checkup) cos they detected blood in my urine for that particular test. So i stayed in camp with a few others who did not go for the course as well for watever reasons. So on Valentine's Day, 14th Feb 2001, I was conscripted to go and play basketball with these people. I have to honestly declare that I've played basketball for less than 20 times in my life, same as soccer. In less than 30 mins of the game, a bad landing from a jump caused my ankle to be badly sprained, and my right ankle turned into a pig's trotter within minutes of the accident. Because it was the VIRGIN SPRAIN, cos i've neva sprained my right ankle b4, it was extremely painful. Reported sick straightaway and got a bandage for my pig's trotter. The pain was so bad that it took me around 5 mins to walk from the lift to my bunk, which was around 50m walk, but i still REFUSED to walk with the help of clutches which KC offered me.

After that we had a nights off, i remembered so clearly that i 一拐一拐 walk to the KTV pub near my camp, which was around 300m of walking distance. I die die oso went becos then, nights off were such big deal to us, thanks to somebody.......We ordered Jugs of Tiger Beer and we sang and drank. After I went back to camp, tried hard to shower, i wanna sleep. But I was still ignorant the best has yet to come. I woke up in the middle of the night, not becos i got turned out by my commanders, but i was woken up by the intense pain on my ankle. My pig's trotter was aching so badly that i could hardly sleep after dat. It was only until some time later that i realised that when u have bone injuries, neva take beer!!! It's becos of its "cooling effect" or 良性 dat eventually causes the intense pain. As a result, i oni slept for around 3-4 hrs dat Valentines Day night.

2) I oso haf to admit that soccer is also not my forte. Knowing that i was so lousy at the game, I will always volunteer to be the bull defender for my team (see opponent gets ball, juz chase and tackle, see team mate get ball, juz continue to mark opponent cos i told them not to pass the ball to me right from the beginning......). During the army days, i will only join in the street soccer games if i was conscripted to play, but today i voluntarily played with my NUS Softball mates lar, assuming the same role i always had. I could miss the kick even if the ball is right in front of me....dats how lousy i am. Today after i went home, i then felt that my toe was in pain. Probably because i cooled down totally from the exercise. But i wasn't reali bothered by the pain and i still cycled my BMX power thigh trainer (cos the bicycle is super short --- suitable for people below the height of 1.6m, and the bicycle has no gear) to wk's place to 拜年. The pain then started to get worse and i even started having problems walking after dat. It was until i reached wk's house, sat down and took a closer look at my toe, then i noticed that it was swollen......sian 1/2....
I tink i've sprained my toe, dunno when and how i sprained it during the game. Felt abit loss oso..last time whenever i had sprains, i will always consult my 2nd uncle, who was a Chinese physician. But he passed away suddenly last year. Now i got no one to turn to. I need to look for alternative sources of physicians to treat my injury......

My childhood games revolve ard "harm Tham bola", "pepsi cola 123", "0 point", cycling around my neighborhood, and playing "fake baseball" at the open space near my void deck, catching or crocodile at playgrounds, gambling with my uncles and aunts partnering wif my mum. No soccer, no basketball. dats y i'm so lousy at them. Laugh at me if you want ba.....reverse psychology again =p
