MORE THAN 1 YEAR!!!

I have not put any piece of my music compositions into a tangible piece.....

I was given the chance to rot today at home......simply refused to do any studying or work....i guess i need a break, seriously to recharge.....

Took out my guitar (with cobwebs already).... finally got the mood to play and record the entire song...which was supposed to be a birthday gift for XY 2 months ago..

Here it goes:

Myself

I'm glad that i'm loved, and to have someone beside me and vice versa.

Even though this song doesn't have such catchy tunes as some of my previous works, but it's still something from within me :)

Enjoy the song.

Look forward to pen down more good songs :)

NP2 - 2 Mar - 9 Apr 09: Almost Perfect Ending :)

6 weeks come and go so swiftly again, and it's time to say Goodbye to my 7th complete batch of Polytechnic Trainees from Ngee Ann Polytechnic Group 2.

This group of Trainees, without fail, challenged some of my records in ITE/Poly Training once again........

I broke the record in the issuance of the number of reminder/ counseling forms for this batch....i counted: 17. With the first one on day 2......

I have to agree that this class is not the strongest in terms of academic aptitude i have taken all these while. But i was touched and surprised by their desire to want to do well. For the 1st time, i have students who come to me to request for additional remedial session on a weekend, and that many of them started to call their lecturers frantically after i agreed but requested for a LT as i need to use the projector. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that 27/28 turned up, and 25 of them turned up on time at LT77 before 9am (on a weekend!). Their efforts did pay off. When the ranking of the final exam marks were released, the class finished 1st on average scores (at a close shave) with the highest passing percentage. I see that as a major value-added performance :). With a student making an all time biggest jump in ranking from 135/182 in the mid term to 19/ 182 in the final term paper. That proven to me one point again, IT'S NOT THE APTITUDE BUT THE ATTITUDE THAT DETERMINES THE ALTITUDE!

For the 2nd time we implemented the min 50% for all components to pass the training, NP-2 was the only class this time round who managed to graduate with a PERFECT ENDING.....with everybody managed to obtain the Graduation Certificate on the same day.

The graduation ceremony was indeed a 'memorable' one. It reali puts our Emergency Response Preparedness to a test. Luckily it was 有惊无险. and the ceremony eventually did proceed.

Now check out the presents and treatment i've received from them on the Graduation Day....

Everyone "牺牲色相" juz to prepare for the present......

Even i myself, was not spared.....

To make this:

I tink they had a great time impersonating me.....

My PIERCING STARES when students yawned impolitely during class....

I seriously think i dun usually do this, as i usually point to pple using my thumb...unlike Mark who points with his fingers always shaking as if he got PARKINSONS.........lol..

"DON'T BE A KUKU" ; "WHACK YOU THEN U NOE"......has become my signature gestures and phrases among my students somehow......lol...

yes...they made it specially for me......

i reali dunno why they haf this impression that i love to patronize dragonfly.....if u searched my archive long enough, u would have known that i dun love to go there....simply becos of disgusting WILLIAM SCORPION.....when was the last time i went clubbing????????? i've lost count...honestly......juz look at them trying to feign the DRAGONFLY wings......lol

I always have a small group of students whom always make a name for themselves....this time there is no exception.....with the Red Bull Gang, which i call them....

I dun see them as bad natured students. i see myself during the 6 weeks to have to hold on to an "invisible cane" everyday on my hand to push them to move and to keep up with the standards. for the 1st 2 weeks, they were at my office almost everyday, not for consultations, but for counseling. for various reasons - like failing examinations, improper behavior and attire counselings, sleeping or using mobile phones during class, etc.

One of them was apparently constantly being counselled by me for improper body languages and behavior. Her behavior and looks reali reminded me of the Dowager of CN4/06 - ZJ... with the WHOLE WORLD OWE HER $$$$$$$ LOOK. On the last day i did tell her : you shld look more happy everyday.....lol......

I was glad that they did move, and I did see that they put in effort eventually -- forcing RED BULL down their throat everyday to make sure they stay awake and attentive during class, all turning up for the extra revision session on the weekend back in Ngee Ann. In fact all of them managed to pass the Final examination. one of them finished in the top 20% if i din remember wrongly.

From the way they behave on the last day, I believe that they know that my LOVE LETTERS, 'caning' and scoldings were for their own good. One of them actually thanked me for all the 'love' letters given to her all these while...I take it positively..lol.

Thanks NP-2, you have created another memorable chapter in my life. You will be remembered....just like how i remember all my 6 previous batches.

My Academic History

Dunno y, my this group of students seemed to be reali keen to know my academic background.

So perhaps i should juz introduce myself more on that aspect.

Primary School: Corporation Primary School

The school crest bears the motto ‘Be Diligent and Helpful’, believing that diligent pupils know their work well and should always help those who need assistance.

The School Song

To the school with a passion to learn and live
Where our thoughts are evermore
Be proud of Corporation Primary School
To her we’ll always be true

Raise the banner of our motto
Be diligent and be helpful
Look up to our dear school
Whose aim we will uphold

I STILL REMEMBER THE MELODY AND THE LYRICS!!! SURPRISINGLY! AFTER I GRADUATED FROM THE SCHOOL FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS!

That was the school compound which i spent 6 years of my primary school education in. Now it's already dilapidated and literally Remember those great days which me, as a kid, with my other childhood friends were playing games like

"ABC" - some games which we had to jump platforms on stairways, which we find extremely enjoyable.

"zero point" - i used to be an expert in the game as it reali puts our 'jumping' skills to a test. i bet if i were to play this game at this age of mine, either my back will break or i will end up getting a slip disc....lol

"Pepsi Cola 123" - a kind of game which we need to step on our opponent's legs to eliminate them from the game and the team which managed to survive till the end will be declared the winner.

"AEIOU" - some kind of game which the "pasang" guy will shout the 5 letters and the opponents were not allowed to move after he turns back. after which he will try to distract you and once u started laughing or moving, u'll be eliminated.

"Catching" - i believe this game is familiar to everyone.

"crocodile" - team game somewhat similar to "catching", just that no one is allowed to place their feet on the ground...so all need to climb everywhere like monkeys....lol

"5 stones" - most shld be familiar with this game too...the unique part is that me, being a right hander, plays this game left handed. and not many were able to beat me in the game! lol....put ur horse come here to challenge me if you want...haha....

"Brick game" and the "rainbow band" - were the 'hot items' of my kiddy generation then that almost everyone will have in their hand...if you know what i'm talking about, we belong to the same generation....

Secondary School: Clementi Town Secondary School

The lost memorable school days of my life which played a great role to shape my present self today. Thanks to my teachers who have impacted me positively. The familiar classrooms which we spent 4 years in. The friendships and bonds built which remained strong even until today. It was a blessing, and i believe more, is fate, that i did not do well in my PSLE which landed me in CTSS to know my great buddies and of course, xy. It was complacency which caused my downfall for the PSLE, and it was thru that lesson which taught me the importance of humbility and consistent diligence in studies in order to achieve success. Being no.1 at a point of time does not mean that you are no.1 forever. Remember that.

Again, i still remember the melody of this school song. But, the melody and lyrics does make my hair stand, even after i have graduated from the school for more than 1o years. I shan't comment further.

College: Jurong Junior College

College Song

The road unwinds before us
And we must venture on
Towards the bright tomorrow
Which faith and hope enthrone.

We shall not stay nor linger
We shall not shrink nor fail
But hand in hand together
Strike out along the trail.

Chorus:
Head, heart and hand we offer
That none will fail the test
"Plus Ultra" leads us further
Until we are the best.

And on our backs the armour
Forged in our college days
And in our eyes the light of truth
This college sets ablaze.

Yes....I oso do remember the melody of this college song, and the meaning of Plus Ultra = this far and farther.....

Good 2 years spent in the college with great teachers, friends and nor forgetting my Softball Team mates. Thanks to all my teachers who have dedicated their teachings which enables my name to be engraved in the college walls forever. Not those kind of vandalised marks on walls by my students on what Ms L _ _ which they always disturbed me about....lol......

Varsity: National University of Singapore

That is not a school. To me, it's just a commercial entity. I have ranted about it more than enough..check out my 05 and 06 posts and u'll know more about this WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY wannabe. But to my gang of friends of ChBE CN4 06, u r the reason y i still have feelings for the university :), also the Softballers :)

松柏

I believe some people, who are just like me, who loves Chinese retro of the 80s and 90s, will be keen on these 2 albums. No worries, these 绝版 series of cds are quite easily available at CD Rama outlets. I got these 2 discs from the Jurong Point branch.

Think of it, 松柏 brothers used to be my Idol when i was still in my lower primary days...lol...i recalled i first got to know them when i first heard their debut song 超越另一个自我, then their hit songs 留一片蓝天, to their gradual downfalls like 舞菌,and finally “Baby you should be dancing". I used to own these cassette tapes, which by now are all no where to be found.

Would like to share this in my opinion quite nice song, but not a hit then. Hope the lyrics are correct:

你是不是从来没有在乎过我

别人眼中的我好像很沉默

个性之中带着冷漠没有太多温柔

如果真的承认心中有感动

不要经过他们口中认识真正的我

再不再要求更多一样的你和我

其实谁不要被人了解 被人接受

你是不是从来没有在乎过我

为什么都不懂 你就想要离开我

我还是我从来没有失去温柔

毫无保留付出我所有

预约你的爱到永久

A Student's Sentiments

Points to ponder:

In a class of 20 odd people, this student, by the name of Student X, has always been given more assignments by his teacher for the past year, as the teacher always claimed that he is someone with good calibre and wishes to expose him to much more challenges, compared to his other classmates. His teacher also told him that he knows that student X is very diligent, has been consistently doing well, and he is very likely to score high grades in the examination. Motivated by his teacher, Student X accepted the challenges, and he got to work doubly hard compared to his other classmates, as he got multiple extra curricular activities commitment which his teacher knows he need to juggle at the same time.

Every year, the students were being assessed by this teacher, who decides how many marks each of his students will get, and how the class will be streamed and banded for the nest year.

Ironically, in the examination, all students in the same class got the same number of marks and all were banded into the same class.

Conclusion:

Was Student X not intelligent enough compared to his peers?

Did Student X did so badly in the exams, until the point he was on par with everyone?

Was the teacher playing a prank on him all along?

Feel free to comment.
