Memories of JJC Softball 98/99

I tink this Softball Team is the most unique team I've ever come across, not that it's made up of star players, in fact, 8 out of 11 of the players only touched softball for the 1st time when they entered JJC (Jurong Junior College). The main reason for its uniqueness is becos 9 out of 11 players come from the same school--- Clementi Town Secondary School, the 2 remainder came from RV and Chinese High respectively. Of course softballers from Chinese High and RI will tink dat dats nothing special cos their team will consist of such proportion, but remember Clementi Town has got no affiliation to JJC, and to be honest, the Softball Team in CTSS, unlike the "top" schools, is also one of the top school in softball, counting from the bottom (and it had already walked into History several years back, and the poor juniors were forced to join CHOIR unwillingly), and most importantly, 7 out of 9 players were total noobs then. As a consolation, i tink we've reali done well, in terms of our team spirit, sportsmanship and committment to the team. I tink i got a special fate wif softball, even though i got little natural talent for the game....yes...it took me about 3 years to throw a decent shot from 3rd base to 1st base, and it took me 5 years be able to throw sufficiently, consistently, accurately around the diamond. Somehow i entered JJC, blur blur dragged by my senior into the team, later blur blur became the captain of the team. Blur blur train for 1.5 years, trashed NJC dat time 37-3 (a great hoo ha for JJC cos we were usually trashed the other way round by other schools) , almost won a medal for the team cos of 1 point, 1 error in fielding...Thinking of it, my fingers got itchy again...when can i start playing the game again? Shot taken outside the library: it's unique becos we were all arranged according to our position. The one right in front was our team catcher, CH. By now, some of the players haf reali gone out of shape....Fitness and Fatness is juz differentiated by a vowel....I'm still desperately clinging on not to fall to the latter category....Unfortunately, I'm oni still in touch with several guys, and the remainder had basically 'vanished' from my life, or i could oso say, i've vanished from their lives.

Somehow the world is really very small. On monday when i was working day shift at office, i was helping my colleague to take care of one small group of trainees on board, and i saw this guy.....he simply looked like a photocopy of one of our player then, Andrew Goh (top row extreme left), but it can't be him becos he's much taller and slightly bigger size than the Andrew I know.

So i asked him:

Me: What is ur surname?

Trainee: Goh......y?

Me: (Surprised) Are you related in any way to Goh Siang Lee (Andrew's full name)???

Trainee:(sound very sian, dunno y oso):Argggghhh....yar....Andrew rite???

I tink you know the conclusion......It's such a small world......

A New Look

After 15 months of same blog skin, i've finally changed my blog to a new outlook. Initially i thought i could share my anxiety and joy of creating something new on my own (to a HTML idiot like me, it's definitely something great), but unfortunately all ended wif unhappiness over something very very minor. I always believe in being truthful to my frens and loved ones, and those who noe me will noe for sure that i'm almost always serious at the right times.

Somehow, one sentence that my student told me came into my mind again:

"一旦在谈恋爱，再聪明的人智商也会降到零"

It simply means that once someone is in love, no matter how intelligent he/she is, his/her IQ will still drop to zero. It does have its point, and i totally understand and agree 90% to this statement. Maybe i belong to the last 10%.

Anyway i gotta give credits to bigfoto.com for this blog skin. Probably it's not hard to tell that the blog skin totally align with the 'seasons' that tally wif the title of my blog. Dats y i'm putting up a WINTER pic for now :)

I've finally learnt how to insert a media player onto my blog....but i din want to post copyrighted songs here, so i've decided to post my own music once again. The title of this post is the title of the song i've posted. This song was in fact composed quite some time ago, and is one of my earlier works. But i juz could not record it to my satisfaction. Promise i will do it very soon, and also upload its lyrics by then too. :)

Something special abt this song was that it was the 1st song that i attempted to arrange in a music software, which i learnt last year back in the WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY in a music module. That's one module which i reali enjoyed as it has got nothing to do with mass transfer, heat transfer, HYSYS etc :s. But the version which i submitted was oni 90s long as that was the time limit which the lecturer sets. So this 3 minute version was a revised one..Heheee

Well, after her advise, we do agree that it's time for a change; to change my blog skin, as it should not have such a gloomy outlook. Hopefully i will have a chance to do it sometime next week. In fact, i already have a theme in mind :)

Had been spending the past 3 saturday nights playing mahjong wif HN, WK and ML. It was fun, relaxing and full of laughter...from all the jokes that we cracked...

"公鸡蜈蚣来我家，毛米老鼠来我家" became a classic chant on the mahjong table -- courtesy to another of our fren who started it.....we made fun of it so much that it becomes a common language on the table as well.....

Oldie "爱神" oso became a joke on the table due to part of its lyrics:

"在哪里，在哪里， 不要隐藏你自己" -- yes; we are calling for the FLOWER and ANIMAL tiles.

I did haf a few BIG games though.

First: It was last saturday i remember...I was already waiting for the winning tile for 无色胡.....it means that all my tiles are made up of triplets of 大牌....gosh....it's definitely more spectacular than 大三元....but my hope was crushed when someone gamed a 1 double game :s

Second: Dat was yesterday...I was waiting for the winning tile for 侃侃胡....which means that all my 13 cards are concealed and are made up of triplets.

Comrades, We'll meet again

Today rcv an 'gift sms' from MINDEF. Yes...i will be going for my 2nd reservist from 11 jun 07 to 22 jun 07. Another high key reservist, where we'll need to go thru company mission, bike riding, navex etc. But now, my mentality towards army has changed...when i was a NSF, i dread my days as a soldier and i simply can't wait to ORD. But now, i somehow treasure the companionship and 'brotherhood' ties wif my 'comrades', as it's reali a rare and only opportunity when most of us can gather again as a platoon to 缅怀 the past, and how our dear Shadow Wolf 'pampered' us then :s, how we managed to break the loophole in the system and smuggled chocolate into the training areas with the help of Ah Beng and Pear during the Survival Training wif MJ and Yap Jian and how our 猛男 leader scolded us for smuggling food after he ate our chocolates; and how Ah toh can pee into a 1.5 L Green Tea Bottle, and this still remain a classic joke even up till today, each time we meet up......

Our days as Guardsmen Trainees back in 2000 （gals, we are not the guards of Istana)....Dat shld not be considered as erotic content rite???? 女生们请不要流口水 :p

Perhaps i'm a 先入为主 person, or maybe i prefer songs in their authentic, original as it is style. The new 'editions' juz simply could not earn my liking, though the music sound more 'stylish' as compared to the originals.

7 years

Today had been an extremely bz day for me...cos of 2 different joyous occasions which i've attended:

Little Valerie came to this world for 1 mth already. Time reali flies....more than 10 years ago, her mum and I were still mischievious and playful secondary sch kids, talentime partners. Now, she's already happily married, wif her beloved daughter, below...She's cute isn't it?

Not forgetting to mention the 2nd joyous occasion i've attended today --- Phui Lea's Wedding Dinner.....somehow i juz couldn't help but to look back at how we all looked 7 years ago....when i was still studying in college.

Honestly, I do miss my college days....apart from mugging non stop from loads of F Maths, nagging by civics tutor, Mr Sia CC (below) as to y i took up double ECAs (Softball and Chinese Dance); struggling wif my Physics tutorials and exams, having to trouble my tutor Mdm Chee WW to stay wif me in college to help me revise till 9pm at night.

I also miss the days in which me and WK played hide and seek with the discipline mistress in the library and we managed to escape from her arrest!!!;

the days i played overnite mahjong wif Phang, QY and WK till the next day and skipping the morning lectures by Mr Sia becos we could not wake up on time;

the days in which the P____ gang teased and ranked the 'jambu and so called flop' BUs of the college;

the days in which we displayed the 北斗七星阵 in our common tests and sleeping during lectures.......the amazing part of these is dat we all sat at the 1st row of the LT!, becos of the belief that the MOST DANGEROUS PLACE IS THE SAFEST PLACE, and somehow it's true, cos lecturers generally pay less attention to students sitting in front becos those pple who sit in front are generally known to be the 'geeky and obedient' types...but in fact we weren't.

In fact, I'm extremely thankful to all my teachers in college as well, not forgetting to also mention Mdm Goh LL (F Maths), Ms Eng HN (Chemistry), Mdm Salina (GP) and Ms Ng YL (Chinese). Below is my college class foto....

7 years seems to pass so quickly....and today, the 1st person from the class is formally married after the completion of the customary ceremony and wedding dinner. Here are some fotos...maybe u can see for urself how much we have changed over the years by comparing wif our looks 7 years back. My shot wif the bride (after obtaining permission to borrow her for 10 seconds from her hubby), she look glamorous isn't it?

Another of my classmate, cum distant relative....our relationship is rather complicated...she's my mum's sister's husband's brother's daughter....Gosh..we have known each other for 16 years already!

YZ, Elsen, and Birthday Boy HP (yesterday)

She's none other than my Chinese Teacher back in college, Ms Ng YL. We are so used to call her by 兰姐 among ourselves. I would say that she did make a difference to my life and i'm reali thankful to her for them....First, without her 'pestering', the 6 boys of the class would not haf joined the Dance Club then, and we would never haf the chance to perform at Kallang Theatre (the place where many dancers felt is prestigious to perform in), hence beautifying our ECA records and resumes, and more importantly, know ALL of the gals in the club. Secondly, without her encouragement to me when i fumbled in the AO Chinese paper in my 1st attempt, I might not haf plucked the courage to resit for the paper again and obtained the desirable grade. Without that grade, i would not have obtained the recognitions from the college for the A Levels back in 2000.

Neglected my bed

Weekends were busily spent wif different grps of frens celebrating the birthdays of 2 different pple; Teng kim and HN. Friday nite was spent wif my army buddiez for a steamboat at 重庆火锅 (another over rated for its quality dining place in my opinion) followed by pool games; for teng kim.

Sat was the 2nd time i got to see the new member of our secondary sch gang...he's cute isn't it?

Gosh...the last time i saw him (洋烈 above), he was oni 2 days old...now he's 5 mths old le. Somehow he got along quite well wif us, as all of us could carry him and play with him :)

Somehow i got pretty amazed once again over my 'energy level', cos friday nite ended at 3am for me, and i gotta wake up at 6am in the morning for work....followed by the secondary sch frens gathering in the evening....and sat nite ended on sunday morning....:p wif a crazy overnite mahjong session full of laughter though.

But dats not the end (those pple together wif me on sunday will understand.........*winks*)

Arrogant, Proud and "Molested"

Today is the graduation of the Sept 06 batch of ITE students. Unfortunately i wasn't around at their graduation ceremony to share their joy. It was kinda fate that i got to know this group of 13 ITE students, though they are not from my form class, but we got the chance to work together during their 5 day shift training. I never had negative impression of ITE students, mainly becos both of my elder sisters graduated from there, so i understand that ITE students are not necessarily as ill disciplined and unruly as how the majority of the society perceived to be. Most of the students from this group, i would say, in my opinion, had done themselves and ITE proud, and i dare to say that some of them even possess better attitude towards learning than some polytechnic students despite the fact that most of them are relatively slower learners; i respect them for that.

Had a casual chat wif some of the students yesterday, i was rather surprised that some of the students from other classes started to talk to me also.......actually they all had this impression of me up till their shift training begins:

I was being labelled as being 'arrogant and proud' looking by the ITE students. becos i neva had the chance to interact with them, so i neva smile at them nor spoke to them. and apparently they said that i always put on a 'black face'. they even told me that when they heard that i was assigned to be one of their trainer during the shift training, they got rather worried as they all thought that i would be a very fierce and stern trainer.

So do u think their judgement of me changed after their shift training???

Was pretty traumatised by the following experience, when one of the student 强吻 me before they go home on the last nite of shift training....Just check out my expression....It was the 1st time a guy ''kisses me'......i am optimistic that he is only trying to be playful, and am glad that at least students do not hate me...hehez.

Best wishes to this grp of students. So long as u can continue to display your neva give up and keen interest to learn attitude, i'm sure you will be able to lift your heads high in the society, and successes will surely prevail. So what if you all are from ITE??? IT'S definitely NOT THE END.

Students Graduation Ceremony Part II

I've finally received the students graduation fotos taken on 13th Oct. Here they are...the 2 shots with the most number of people:

The students are of a mixture from the 3 groups when they were here during training (but mainly from Jasmine's class)...if i'm not wrong, these students belong to the same class back in their poly....

Of course not forgetting my own class :)

Refusal Part 2

Part 2 of my happenings last saturday.

Went to K Box wif my Secondary 2 class back in CTSS....Despite i was SOOOO tired --- eyes puffy and swollen from the lack of sleep from work.....But i tink it's worth it cos it has reali been months since i last met up wif them.....

Was a great session shouting by singing POWERFUL AND MASCULINE songs....

and i slept at 5am that nite!!! even though i worked nite shift the day b4..

ITE shift trainings have been fine these few days....My days wif my NP students had reali paid off as i felt SO MUCH MORE BETTER PREPARED and EQUIPPED this time round (i feel that i am still improving) and was glad that my experiences in this entirely different shift team is pretty peaceful and enjoyable so far..though extremely tiring.... Also got to realise that this group of students can be pretty adorable at times, and some of them are reali pretty hardworking and conscientious......though most of them r slower learners...but as long as they are willing to learn, i'm willing to teach :)


The root of the problem of my PC is finally confirmed......Think of it, it's juz a stupid problem ------ the power supply to the HDD is loose and it causes my system to hang always..... i only detected it when i tried to remove my HDD from its compartment and to notice that it's not turning--- meaning no power supply....Hopefully that is the ROOT of the problem and i hope that i'll haf no more problem wif my pc until next year when i hope to change my whole system to a MS Vista.
