A Muddy, Lonely Christmas

I am sosososo tired....start counting from friday night, which worked night shift......i went home after work, juz to catch 1.5 hrs of sleep before i wake up to go to PL's hse for our JC class gathering at noon. I flew the NUS guys aeroplane cos i was supposed to be present for a friendly game, which i eventually did not turn up cos i was reali too tired.

Was so glad that we managed to get an almost 50% attendance. But i was stupid again to be relatively punctual, juz to wait for nearly 2 hours before more pple come so that we could start the steamboat. A perfect weather cos it was raining then, and Eugene did say that eventually the match was not played cos of the availability of the field. Overall this gathering is enjoyable. and Mdm Chew is certainly still a fun pal, as we have always been very sacarstic to each other over the years in funny ways. Right after the steamboat, i gotta rush home, simply becos i needa head for work again..yes, nite shift. A sacrifice i needa make in order i can make it for the coming CM trip. I needa to work extra hard these few days to cover up for my shift duties during the festive season.

Dat was not all. After the saturday nite shift, i headed straight to Kallang, in my Softball Armour right after work. Kept awake by 2 bags of Lipton Teh O. It was the FIRST TIME after last year's CM trip. Now this old, rusty softball is aching all over from head to toe.

I was very fortunate to be able to play both the games cos of the lack of players. and very very luckily i did not cause any major damages to the team..hahahahhaa. the oni damage i done was to my JERSEY....arrghhhh.....i felt like a pig, becos i told myself i need to like the mud and the wet field to play well.....but i neva expected myself to dive into a mud pool to attempt to catch a ball....It wasn't worth it....cos eventually i failed to catch the ball.....and i gotta spend more than 1 hour scrubbing my slacks and jersey, wiping and kiwing my glove and washing my boots to restore them to their orginal usable and presentable state. And i've gotten backache cos of that...

My front view of the ravaged jersey was pretty clear. This was the back view which shows my 'spotty ass', It's very obvious who played the outfielders cos only the outfielders have this spotty ass....since the infielders are not exposed to the mud on the field..oops i tink i'm getting too technical......

Speaking of ravaged....i can't help but to feel sad that the JJC Softball team had officially WALKED INTO HISTORY....Cos of the same old reasons, i believe will never change over the past 10-15 years.

  • Lack of Coach
  • Team has not been Winning
  • The sport is very expensive

If those are really the real reasons for them closing the sport, i can only regret to say that the purpose of CCA is already gone. Instead of setting up CCAs to develop students mentally and exposing them to different sports and cultivating team work, it had degraded to one that only allows participation if it is SURE TO PRODUCE DESIRABLE RESULTS.

X mas eve (night) was spent having steam boat again, but wif family members....cos of rain. and mahjong till 2am. Yes, once i reach home after yesterday's softball, i went straight to do the cleaning up work all the way till 7pm without rest and headed to my sis's place all the way till 2am. Only to reach home and sleep ard 3am+ and waking up again at 6am to head for Work again.....

Now i'm at office btw..What a lonely X mas 'DAY'.

圣诞节

Sorry for being 'Missing' for the past 2 weeks cos i reali got no time to update. Have been busy wif trainings besides work, ever since i 重出江湖.

Well, on sat, i heard a 'joke' on the WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY again. That there was a leak in the examination results and students could check their results online even though the official release dates is still more than 1 week away. This incident is juz one of the many screwups i'ce personally experienced myself. They really live up their name of NUMEROUS UNPRECEDENTED SCREWUPS. I wonder wat will happen if this piece news is known by the media or by gossipy newspapers like 新明 or 晚报...Anyway, i congratulate my friends whom checked their results and are happy with their grades.

2006 is coming to an end so silently without me even realising it. Actually i have bought 2 packets of glutinous rice balls and a packet of pandan leaves for me to cook them to celebrate 冬至.

Since this year X mas will be a working day at office for me, i tink it would be good to post a song related to Xmas. This song is very new though, it was only released less than 2 weeks ago. Sang by a local artise, Celeste Chong. She's pretty, can act and can sing LIVE, unlike many other Singapore actresses who are fond of LIP SINGING, i shall not mention who they are. I tink i've said this b4, if a singer is willing to sing live, i add 10 marks to the singer straightaway, if a singer lip sing and failed to keep in "lip", i straightaway minus 50 marks.....Sometimes, in life, it's not about how good you are, it can be about how couragous you are to take the first step, and plucking the courage to challenge yourself to bring yourself to greater heights even though there might be a risk of falling. I applaude people with such courage. and this metaphor can be well linked to singing i guess.

Wishing everyone an early Merry X mas, juz in case i will be missing until after Xmas though

Arghh...Adam apple hurts

From one perspective, it's unlucky of me to kena hit by a ball during training today when i bunt a foul ball that hits my chin and my adam's apple....:s now felt as if i've gotten a sore throat.....maybe dat speaks how rusty i am reali at the game now.....

From another perspective, i felt quite lucky that it did not hit any obvious parts on my face.....like my teeth, nose or eyes..if not i would have been 'disfigured'...

Nonetheless, overall training is enjoyable and had lunch at a place that's new to me..."Botak Jones".that sells western food at a reasonable price, i believe ($5.50 for a plate of fish and chips)...the portion proved too much for me...i tink i could haf finished one plate of its fish and chips in 2 meals...as expected, i din finish my food.....

Gab made a comment that caught my attention, that gals oni go there to waste food...and i reali saw the half filled plates filled with coleslaw, fries and meat left unfinished and wasted.... so u can imagine the portion given.

To those who wanna find out more about the game "Softball", you may refer to the Doha Asian Games Website..apparently i was correct that Softball is a competed event of this Doha Asian games and it does give very brief explaination about the game and its differences with baseball, which i always have to explain each time i tell someone i play the game, and i got quite tired about dat, honestly.

My cycling regime to office and back home had officially come to an end, though i stil feel it's quite a good workout afterall, but consideration is given to someone who cares for my safety, and i do appreciate the thoughts (you know who you are). Actually, i have to admit that it's much more dangerous to cycle than to even ride a motor bike. So i cannot understand why some of my family members seem to object so much of me riding a bike, and make no noise when i ride a bicycle to work. Truly speaking, i dun tink i will enjoy riding a bike on a long term basis (who dun wish they can own a car?????), cos the riders are always at the mercy of the weather conditions, and another reason is that, my hair always get messed up after a ride cos of the helmet....so actually riding during reservist is the only time i can ride at no worries, becos i dun haf to care abt image, and more importantly, i dun haf to pay insurance, road tax, COE, ERP and petrol for riding in camp...i will be getting another such opportunity in june nx year.

This post will end with a nice song i found on youtube today though, about a song that was composed in conjunction with the Chinese Opposition to Dog slaughter and torture....The lyrics is meaningful and the melody is catchy in my opinion. Enjoy this video. I believe you'll enjoy the video better if you do understand chinese :)

I need WD40

Finally after abt 1 year, i'm back training on the fields......Felt so rusty and i thought my shoulders will give way anytime :s Look forward to this coming Chiang Mai Opens with the old and new guys of the team, and probably, i'm considered a new face to the new team members.

Another training regime i had was to cycle from home to office, which i did...only during off peak hours becos i noe how reckless and lawless the drivers there can drive. hopefully my physical fitness can be back on shape by the end of this mth.
