Can I have your STUDENT CARD PLS??

Yes. today was the 1st time i stepped into the main campus of my parent company...after 1 yr plus of employment. Not there for work, but to use their library and to MUG!! I din wanna go back to the WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY to study cos i'm very sure all comfortable study areas will be FULL HOUSE. So i thought i shld try my 'company's instead. There's reali some obvious disparity in the atmosphere of a polytechnic as compared to Uni. There's nothing bad, juz a plain observation. Back in uni, the library is always a quiet place, with pretty tense atmosphere cos it will always be almost, or full house, with the muggers stressing u up wif their work. At poly, what i could say abt the 1st storey is: "It's like a market". Unfamiliar with the place, it was until i asked the librarian when i found out that the 1st storey is a common discussion area. So i shifted to the top level, which is well known to be much quieter, but peace oni sustained for less than half an hr. I was surrounded by and "fish market" behind ---a grp of female students, and a grp of "poultry sellers" --- a grp of male students somehow were talking very loudly. It was until i found a 3rd holding area by a side table which i managed to settle down for ard 6-7 hrs.

I tink today's experience had also 'humoured' some of the librarians, cos apparently I was so SUAKU with the poly system that i did not know that my staff card can only be scanned from "ONE" particular side at ONE particular angle for it to be able to be detected and to gain access to the entrance, exit, or borrowing machines. That i had to bother the librarians several times. and when i showed her my staff card, the reply i got was:

Librarian: (puzzled as to why i gave her a card without the poly logo, becos the card only got my company's logo, and apparently, they dun recognize that my company belonged to the poly, so she said in disbelief as if i was trying to be funny with her)
What card is this???? CAN I HAVE YOUR STUDENT CARD PLEASE????

Me (暗爽, cos by saying that, she's implying that i can still bluff my way thru as a 19 yr old POLYTECHNIC STUDENT):
I'm a staff. You can check my records from the computer.

Taken in the library during a 'self proclaimed' 5 min break at night

The great consolations i had from today's 'adventure' was that i managed to borrow 3 very precious textbooks to revise for the module i'm studying, becos it is impossible to borrow those books back at the WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY as they are classified under RBR materials, and in this poly, i can actually borrow a book for 6 mths as a staff!!. In addition, it was thru reading those precious text that i found out that the notes given by the Professor is simply F****** up. At least i now understand some important concepts. his notes can be thrown into the dustbin......ahem........ after the exam cos i need to refer to what was being covered in class and study for them from the textbooks i've borrowed. The professor reali tinks too highly of post grad students and expect them to know everything. But, he failed to realise one point is that, if all students were suppose to know everything and had known everything, none of us need to go thru the course, you can juz gif us our Masters or PHDs straightaway, we dun need u to teach us. As far as i'm concerned as a teacher, i always make sure i have told them the answers to all the questions in detail that i am going to test them, either by direct or indirect hinting. Anyway, I noe where is a good place to hang out if i want to revise for my exams or borrow good reference books in my remaining semesters at the WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY.

Time for shower, and continue mugging till i wanna sleep. i finally got back the momentum to study. hope it's not too late :)

经典回顾 --- 王杰

I would to say that his marvellous songs had accompanied me thru my growing up days, ever since the mid 80s when i started to know this particular singer. Actually, many people of similar age grp as mine know him. and it is not difficult to find a kaki who knows how to sing his songs too. So dats how popular he was. How i also wish that he'll come to SG for a live concert...I will NOT HESITATE to purchase the tixs to support him!

How he looked about 20 years ago

20 years later........

Gonna post his Top 10 songs (in my opinion) here in random order. Some might sound unfamiliar though..of cos he got many other superb songs, but these r my extreme favourites. you know.... until today i would still sing them w/o much difficultly wif the lyrics!

All of them belong to the late 80s - early 90s time frame.

忘记你不如忘记自己

是你是你是你

上帝也哭泣

是否我真的一无所有

回家

英雄泪

心痛

多少次

一场游戏一场梦

Birthday Treats

Perhaps this will be a last post for the time being, at least till the end of exams. I reali feel the difference, between my undergrad days and present. back then, i would have been 'camping' at study areas from morning till nite even on weekends. now, i simply have no energy and the drive. but it's a test of endurance which i'll need to overcome and conquer.

The highlight of the week would haf to be the invite to one of our ex student's birthday party. I would haf to say that u reali need more training and polishing up of your alcoholic tolerance and drinking skills..lol. Myself and my colleague, the students form trainer then, decided to treat her wif a graveyard and waterfall respectively, and it proved too much to be handled...lol

Dragonfly would have been fine, WITHOUT this person.. kaoz, guess what, i was entirely shocked by his appearance...shocked to the extent of feeling disgusted and wanna puke. Yes, the almost 50 year old man had stunned the audiences with his "spectacular" bare body, and his traumatizing WINGS...Maybe he was trying to impersonate some korean star... dats the closest i could find.

Here were some shots taken:

Birthday gal and her 'warm treats'

That was the fate of my shoes after being MERLIONED on. I washed it immediately after i got home..guess what, the next day, it was infested wif a platoon of ants!

Coincidentally, i happen to know alot of other frens whose birthday fall btwn 16/11 - 20/11. Another birthday treat was for one of our army buddies. A deafening session indeed. in fact, it has always been extremely enjoyable to go ktv wif the army buddies. most of us were unwell, including myself, that's why the birthday boy was exempted from an alcohol treat from us. We juz let go...all our tiredness and frustration thru almost non stop shouting. Most of us can't be bothered to sing well, basically whoever is "大声" 赢. The people in the adjacent ktv rooms muz haf had a hard time bearing wif us..lol.

经典回顾 : 飞鹰三姐妹

It seems that I still haven get over the enjoyment i got from Eric Moo's concert almost a month ago.

Childhood memories of those singers of the 80s still never fail to fill my mind from time to time. Watching their old, blurrish MTV was an enjoyment, not only because of the classic songs that brings back fond memories, but also of the amusement from their max 惊吓指数 looks then, esp their thick eyebrow, the spongy hair aka "karly pok" hair style, the tuck in t-shirt and jeans, and the covered track shoes, the thick shoulder pads, not forgetting their artificially, forcefully synchronized dance steps, which i find it super amusing when watching them. Here are some classic videos i've found on them, and not forgetting to mention my favorite song of theirs -- 有我有你, which i actually got to know this song back in 1987...i was still in kindergarden then!!! Guess what, i can actually still sing both songs in their complete lyrics!!!!!!

HOW IS WISH I CAN SEE AND HEAR THE 3 OF THEM SING THESE SONGS LIVE AGAIN!

this was how they looked 20 years ago.......

this is how they look like 20 years later.....now.....can you tell which is which?????

伊能静 裘海正

方文琳

年轻的心MTV--I remembered back in primary school, this used to be our youth day song that we would sing.

年轻的心--lip sing version. juz check out their outlook and the synchronized dance steps!!
