Ris Low is the newly crowned Miss Singapore World 2009. [1]

Low has been heavily criticised for her inability to speak proper English as well as her lack of intellect, when she appeared in a fashion interview. However, some people have tried to downplay the fracas by saying that most youths in Singapore, such as her, speak the same way. Ris Low's interview has sparked much discussion about the pressing issue of Singlish among Singaporeans, especially in youths these days. [2] [3]

Low is now quite certain that she is studying for a diploma in travel & tourism [4] and one in nursing at Singapore's Management Development Institute of Singapore [5].

There have been allegations on Singapore forums and websites that Low won the crown underhandedly and is undeserving of the title.[6][7] There have also been calls for Low to be stripped of her title as Miss Singapore World 2009. This is because of her poor command of English. This can be seen in her recent interview which her pronunciation caused resulted in her not making much sense such as leopard preens","studying STEEL", "that shouts me,BOOMZ", "bigini" and many more.[8][9]. Recently,The beauty queen was convicted of five charges of misappropriation, cheating using illegally obtained credit cards, and impersonating their users' identities.
