Happy New Year!

Touch down at Chiang Mai on 30th Dec around 1900 Thai time. Accomodation at Lanna View Hotel. Very cheap rates at only 2500++Baht for 6 days 5 nights!

Start of tournament on 31st Dec at Chiang Mai University. Nice and cool weather until noon time. Sun sets everyday at around 1800.

Counting down to New year! We light up lotsa fireworks.

Also lit up these 孔明灯, wat i've neva seen in my life. Each person will light up a Kong Ming lantern, write down your wishes for the coming year and let it rise up into the sky!

The sky full of these 孔明灯 was a magnificent scene! one can see more orange twinkles than the number of stars in the sky!

Beautiful fireworks that we lit ourselves.

I can never get so close to them when I'm back home in Singapore

1st Jan 2006, 0000hrs was spent at the Chiang Mai night bazaar (Walking Street).

Apart from seeing a sky densely packed with 孔明灯， once the clock meter crossed the 0000 mark, non stop fireworks began to beautify the dark sky for around 30 mins! even more beautiful than what we can find back home in Singapore! After seeing those fireworks, I began to wonder what is so special about the 1 minute fireworks in Singapore during National Day, and how cum it cost the Sing govt thousands of dollars for that miserable 1-2 minutes..........
