The MERLIONs

It's a good break from work though, and i could finally say that i am finally on my way to recovery, since i could be spared from all the shouting on the field and suffer from the lack of sleep....

On sat, i finally allowed myself to get high and drunk for the 1st time in 2007.

Went to "Dragonfly" at St James Power station, a place supposedly well known for canto and chinese rock music pub/ disco.....but was utterly disappointed by the music and demographics there.

The minimum admission age is 23, but to my horror, uncles and aunties aged 40 and above formed almost 20-30 percent of the total crowd there.

The cover charge is $20, but i was utterly disgusted to know that i had paid $20 to watch a live band performance of '七月歌台' standard. William Scorpion's style of singing has been the same for the past 20 YEARS.....yes, i heard of this singer since i was young (like when i was in kindergarden??), and his dressing and dancing had always given me the '妖里妖气' impression. The female singers looked and dressed too ah lian to be considered 'hot'

In the end, me and my frens left in less than an hour of stay there....and changed our plans to alcohol and ktv at Shenton Way....

I knew i can't sing yet. i did try, and as usual, it was not only horrible, but also agonizing on me and the listeners....and the oni song which suited me dat nite was 伍佰's <被动>...obviously my husky voice suits the song well....The nite was spent drinking 2 bottles of Chivas (by 9 pple), playing bluff wif dice, finger guessing, and some other dice games and if i din remember wrongly, almost half of the gang puked by the end of the day, and we became MERLIONS.....i was one of them, and i allowed myself to get crazy dat nite...since it's reali ONCE in dunno how many blue moons...so i juz went ALL OUT. ZJ, Phang, ML oso joined the MERLION CLUB, while the remainder mainly became the RESCUE PARTY.

I finally got the chance to view the entire original MTV of this song <明天会更好>. i remembered featuring this song on the blog b4. This song was written in the mid 80s if i am not mistaken....Looking at the MTV provided memories of many famous singers of that time, and idols of my elder sisters dat time. I do try to recall all of the singers, but i juz simply cannot recognise a few of them....Here is my list in their order of appearance and their famous songs in my database: The more u can recognise or remember, the OLDER u muz be!!!

  5. 甄妮 (i reali can't recall any of her songs, and in my memory, she always sing songs of other pple)
  6. 李正帆 (i'm doubtful about this...i tink he's the one who sang <龙的传人>)
  7. 林慧萍 (情难枕)
  8. i reali haf no idea who she is!!
  9. 黄莺莺 (时空寄情;哭砂 etc)
  10. 洪荣宏 (i oni remember he sang alot of hokkien songs)
  11. 陈淑桦 (梦醒时分--i always sing this song on the mahjong table when my kakis r dreaming of getting the 'impossible' tiles during the mahjong games)
  12. 娃娃,金智娟 (就在今夜;飘洋过海来看你;曾经沧海 etc)
  13. 王梦麟 (the famous 阿美阿美)
  14. i also haf no idea who dat person is!!!
  15. 费玉清 (i am sure everyone knows him... and his famous 一剪梅;送你一把泥土 etc)
  16. 齐豫(船歌, and her duet wif 周华健: 天下有情人 etc)
  17. 郑怡 (想飞;天堂;心情; 月琴 etc)
  18. 江惠 (this is a surprise! i din noe she started singing so early....btw she's the Heavenly Queen of the hokkien pop arena and her hokkien songs like 感情放一边; 酒后的心情 r reali nice!)
  19. 杨琳 (零下几度C; 玻璃心 etc)
  20. In the final chorus (those i can recognise): 蓝心湄; 杨烈;齐秦; 文章...
Oh no...it seems that i can recognise 17 out of 19 of the solo singers!!

But nonetheless, u haf to agree wif me that this song is so inspiring and nice right???

Ending of Practical trainings

Finally i am in the mood to transfer my fone pics onto my pc and basically dats wat i've got.....

these 2 pics haf been inside and untransfered for more than a mth though....and i finally noticed and remembered its existence...yup..i cooked those 2 dishes, and i haf to admit that i haf little time and mood to cook nowadays cos of my hectic schedule. if you could recognise those 2 aboved dishes, i believe it's not hard to realise that the 2 dishes are fried oyster egg and braised fish with vegetable..... it dun look 'noobish' at all rite? =p

this shot was taken last week when a distant friend, yy came to SG for a short holiday. was extremely grateful to her and bb for being wonderful hosts and LOs for us during our 2 CM Softball Open Championships.

Finally, those 2 shots were taken today during the students fire fighting training. With this training, it symbolises that my 2nd full batch of students practical training is coming to an end, and it will end tmr. Yes, their 4.5 weeks of practical training with this fierce trainer who goes after his students for sleeping or sitting at the back during lectures is finally ending...lol

Though it's the students who had undergone fire fighting training today, but i dunno y it seems that i am the most tired person after the event.....lol..super ironical...and i had lost my voice again....Pls allow me to recover from my chronic cough and regain my voice asap!

Last batch, there were 4 'Charles Law Angels', this batch, there are the '3 Musketeers'

The one wif the red helmet is one of the 3 musketeers who was terrorized by me .....Imagine he and his other 2 kakis were being called to my office and be scolded right on the 2nd day of training.....but i was glad that they are a bunch of fun loving guys though....they might look devious, but i am sure that they are well natured 'kids' and can still be reasoned with and taught. though their behavior is reali child like most of the time...lol

The one wif the yellow helmet coincidentally happen to be my friend's (XD) sister....It's reali a small world that her younger sister became my student, somemore in my form class...

Just to quote a line told to me by my colleague, KS, who is their module coordinator...he onced spoke to the 3 guys regarding a topic...

KS (during a lecture, feeling curious after seeing the 3 guys sitting on the 1st row everyday after 1 week):

"I tot the 3 of u always sit at the last row??? How cum u all haf been sitting on the 1st row everyday recently????"

One of the 3 guys said:

"you know hor...if we still sit at the back, and kena caught by 'me' , we sure kena jialat jialat (meaning that i will surely give them a hard time)"

I burst out laughing after i heard dat statement....lol

I feel it would be good for me to end this post wif a song recommendation...do enjoy:

Thoughts abt my Teachers

Feeling so tired and drowsy now......Felt so bad that i troubled my colleagues to take care of my students from today's noon to tmr. Cannot tahan sia...i was left wif no choice but to carry the mobile microphones to the field to conduct today's practical lesson, juz imagine every few words i spoke was accompanied by coughing....:s

My cousin took the above shot when he happened to go to my former school for a soccer game.

I remembered i told my students about this story of mine which happened during my JC days. I tink i've mentioned b4 that i feel very thankful to haf met many good teachers in my life who had significantly affected my life in mostly positive ways. I confessed that there was once i actually slept thru 3 hours of a tutorial session during my Physics tutorial....Physics was my most hated subject then and i haf always gotten the worst grade for it during JC days, all the way up till the Prelims, my Physics grade was 2nd in class, counting from behind.

I remembered so clearly that though i slept thru 3 hrs of tutorial, none of my friends tried to wake me up, neither did my teacher then, Mdm Chee WW. When i woke up, i realized that the lesson was already coming to an end, and Mdm Chee still did not utter a word of scolding....that had made me felt so guilty after the incident that i actually went to apologize to her personally, and she gladly accepted it. The reason y i'm mentioning her in this post is becos, without her patience and dedication to her students, my name would not be on dat board at all. Without her 1 to 1 tuition to me after my prelims to 9pm at times, it would never be possible for me to obtain a grade jump from E to A in the actual A lvls. Actually, i admit that all my teachers did help me alot during that period, but her help to me had yielded the most results. Unfortunately, many students failed to appreciate her, but i do, even up till today.

Apparently, it seems that i reali sound and look terrorizing to the students. one student made a small, but unexpectedly clumsy mistake during today's practical session, and he got so worried that he asked me whether i will penalise his practical assessment grades! I said no...Probably he'll deserve more credits becos he actually volunteered to do the work, but it resulted in mistakes...but dats not important. becos in my opinion, there's no such thing called "少做少错" I rather they learn from their mistakes, as long as the mistakes are not "delibrately stupid" for attention seeking purpose or 'asking for scolding' kind.

An infected non smoker's lung

Cannot tahan anymore, i went to see doc today....to my horror, the diagnosis was secondary lung infection....causing me to cough non stop, and throat super itchy....given 2 days MC sia......All thanks to the Ba Kwa....and i paid a high price for dat...$62 for the medications. i guessed the teaching and shouting on the fields and the lousy air on JI had aggravated the situation.Too bad..i am paid and i gotta do my job.

The "feared by the students" Process Flow Diagram Test is over today.....only the MCQ section had been graded so far.....the variance of the marks was good actually....out of 10 questions, we got students getting the number of questions correct from 0 to 10! 0 is very hard to get though, but someone gotten it.....it wasn't easy to get 10 too..but 2 students got it....BTW the total number of students of this cohort is 193. so u can imagine the distribution....

felt like sharing this song, which i feel is one good song sang by 许慧欣 recently though. she sang it together wif a newcomer i guess: 潘玮仪, she simply reminded me of 萧亚轩....i dunno how far she can go in this line though, since she seem so much like her duplicate.....

A Relaxing Weekend

It has a been a long time since i last went to ECP for a relaxing weekend, and i finally got the chance to do dat, wif my sisters and niece. Here are some shots taken
my eldest sis and my niece -- swa ku pple who neva slept in a hammock b4.....btw, this hammock is my best friend, whenever i go for outfield trainings during my NS and Reservist days :) (dats y it's green color)

Bah Kut Teh Dinner at Joo Chiat -- time reali flies and she's already going to be 4 yrs old this yr!

Perhaps i would like to take this opportunity to congratulate 慧玲 for completing her ROM ceremony last Tuesday......Her sister is 郑惠玉....dun be mistaken that her sister is the famous Zoe Tay....It's by pure coincidence that her younger sis shared the same name and surname wif the Caldecott Queen. My friendship with her originated from the college days, when i got to know this gal nicknamed the "Walking Radio" becos she got a wide database of songs in her head, and she got a good voice and oso a flair for singing too and she is actively participating in choirs since her secondary sch days even up till now.

Sounds like we shared a common interest ya....dats y we clicked and we actually team up to participate in the College Talentime to compete in the group category, and surprisingly, we won the Champions! I still remembered teachers used to interrogate me whether we were a couple....and friends kept teasing me and her by calling her 许嫂 (meaning Mrs Koh)..hahaa...but the reality is that on 27th Feb 07, she had officially promoted to become Mdm Tee aka 郑女士. Those days when we spent together at the KTVs or classrooms singing or rehearsing for competitions were indeed memorable and will always be remembered. Once again, i wish u a very blissful marriage with your beloved husband. Thanks for inviting me to ur post ROM BBQ and pls dun forget this KTV pal and duet partner......

This shot was taken after we won the Talentime together. I still remembered we sang the song 《两颗心四行泪》. The talentime finals was held at Singapore Polytechnic Auditorium if my memory did not fail me.

The bride and her smile of happiness :)

专属天使

I believe this song is one of the best new songs I've listened to for the past 2 weeks. Perhaps, it's the best song i've heard which is sang by TANK too...in my opinion. Enjoy this song and its MTV

Time reali flies and 1 week with the students has passed. I guessed they had reali drained dry my voice and energy. Since i had not recovered from my lousy throat (all becos of BA KUA during the CNY) I had to rely on microphones, even during practical sessions. Lectures were draining, not only to the students, but to us as well. Imagine one lecture we need to conduct twice, and after 4 hours of virtually non stop talking during the practical session. I felt my voice had turned "more sexy". I realised that once i leave office, i dun feel like talking for the rest of the day.....Apart from the strain on the throat, I've enjoyed my job though, except having to feign angry at times at the students to get things done. As usual, I believe I had a clear conscience towards them so far, bearing in mind my purpose with them was not to become a Mr Congeniality in their eyes. Cos of that I got some expected responses from them so far....This scene seemed so similar to my days when i was in secondary school when we really hated our form teacher then, for being a nosy person who seemed to be picking on everything, which it took us more than one year to realise her intentions. Too bad i only have 6 weeks wif this grp of students.

I'm glad that my form class is generally well behaved and willing to learn so far, and i can't help but to agree that the world is indeed very small. becos, one of my student is my friend's sister! and one of my student apparently looked quite alike wif one of my friend, except that the student had sharper features.
